Audience instructions:

1. Do NOT join earlier than 5 minutes before class time or you will interrupt
someone else’s recital.

2. Call Leap’s office (720-335-5327) if you are having technical difficulties.

3. Be on a computer if possible.

4. Test these features by having a fun family Zoom call!

5. Be aware of your facial expression. Dancing over Zoom is a huge, new
experience for our young dancers and we want them to see smiling,
supportive faces looking at them.

6. “Rename” yourself by scrolling over your picture, clicking the three dots and
hitting “rename.” If you are on a tablet, touch the screen and then click the
“participants” button and touch on your name. Please include your name,
where you are calling from, and your relationship to the dancer, such as
“Suzie’s Grandpa.”

7. To “mute” or “unmute”, hit the microphone icon. (bottom left on a
computer/top right on an ipad)

8. To “start” or “stop” your video, click on the camera icon. (bottom left on a
computer/top right on an ipad) All audience members will be asked to stop
their video for the performance, so we can see the dancers.

9. “Gallery View”/”Speaker View” - Click “gallery view” in the top right of your
screen or top left on a tablet. This shows all of the dancers at once. Click
“speaker view” in this same location to see a large image of whoever is
talking.

10. “Pin Video”/”Unpin Video” - Scroll over a dancer’s picture, click on the three
dots, and hit “pin video” to make them big. To get back to gallery view click
“unpin video” in the top left of your screen. On a tablet you can double click
on the video you would like to see big.

11. To only view the dancer’s videos, click the up arrow next to the camera icon,
then click on video settings, and place a checkmark next to “hide non-video
participants.” This will hide the name of audience member’s whose videos
are turned off, so you can see the whole class dancing together.

12. Brainstorm ways to make this virtual recital just as special for your young
dancer—giving flowers, preparing a nice meal, cheering extra loud, treating
yourself to ice cream, etc. These dancers have worked so hard this year and
especially the past two months taking virtual classes. We want to shower
them with love and praise after this special event of their recital.

Dancer tips (Parents, please help your child implement these starting immediately.):

1. Most importantly, decide where the camera/computer will be and have your
young dancer practice in that space, facing that direction, for the next two
weeks before the recital. (It is very confusing to remember which side of the
stage you exit/enter, turn, face, or leap when your surroundings or the
direction you face for front keeps changing. This is especially true for our
older dancers who have more complicated choreography.)

2. Rename your child as soon as the call begins.

3. Make sure your child is not backlit, so people calling in can see them. (see
photo below of what we DON’T want.)

4. Test the camera to make sure we can see your child’s whole body, including
feet to tips of fingers when arms are above their head. You can place an X in
masking tape on the floor for where they should stand, so people joining
from afar can see their whole body.

5. Decide where you, the audience is going to sit, in relation to the dancer and
sit there for the dress rehearsal. Will you be in the same room or in a
different room on a 2 nd device? Make sure you can see your young dancer and
the computer (if that is important to you.)

6. Parents of young children, stay nearby to help with muting/unmuting when
introductions are given.
